RADIO PATRICK

Sports Overnight America
Host: Patrick Mauro
Sunday and Monday, 1am-6am ET

Patrick Mauro originally hails from the great state of Idaho. Yes, he likes potatoes. No, he is not a white supremacist. His broadcasting career began in school at the University of San Francisco where he served as the Dons play-by-play man for mens' hoops. After graduating in 1991, Mauro launched his career in the middle of nowhere (Mount Vernon, WA to be exact), "cutting his teeth" at KAPS Radio handling a multitude of responsibilities - he once did play-by-play at a smelt derby (seriously).

After one year at KAPS - whose studios are located in a trailer in the middle of a cow pasture, Mauro returned to the Bay Area to serve as Producer/Slave for Ron Barr's Sports Byline USA eventually rising to the rank of Senior Producer and Features Host. By the mid-90's, ready for something new, he headed south to Sin City, unsuccessfully trying out as an acrobat for Cirque de Soleil, before settling on another broadcasting job co-hosting the nationally syndicated Sports Overnight Update - a one hour SportsCenter type show on the radio. While in Las Vegas, Mauro's least healthy obsession - video games - led him into new vocational territory as radio host of the critically acclaimed 'PC Sports and Video Game Hour'. Maybe the worst name ever for a show, but it didn't stop it from evolving into a television show and Digital Turf (better name) ran on E! Entertainment Television for seven years. While hosting, writing, and producing Digital Turf, Mauro returned to San Francisco and returned to the Sports Byline Radio Network as host of Sports Overnight America Weekend - a show 13 years later, that he still hosts today.

Along the way, Mauro has written a baseball column - "Good Wood" - for IGN Sports, reviewed sports video games for Electronic Gaming Monthly, created and originally hosted the Video Game Review, filled in multiple times at San Francisco's KNBR Radio, and has provided political satire and commentary for the Peter B. Collins syndicated radio show. Mauro has a tremendous understanding of the world we live in from politics to pop culture to his passion for sports, and he shares his funny, irreverent, sometimes controversial, and always entertaining views with sports fans all across the world.
